License of rogue driver in viral video revoked

/ 05:10 AM June 07, 2019

Looks like the rogue driver caught on camera last month driving a car from the passenger seat will have to call shotgun for the rest of his life.

Condemning his reckless disregard for traffic laws as “greatly appalling,” the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday revoked the license of Luis Miguel “Miko” Lopez, the driver in a viral video seen doing dangerous stunts while driving.

The LTO also charged Luis Miguel Lopez with multiple violations: speeding, reckless driving, nonuse of seatbelt, and driving a motor vehicle without a steering wheel.

The agency ordered him to pay P5,000.

He is also perpetually disqualified from securing a driver’s license.

Lopez went viral last month because of a video of him driving from the passenger seat—using his left leg to operate the gas and brake pedals while using his left hand to steer the wheel.

“No person in his right mind would behave in such a manner, an act which endangers not only his own safety but also that of his passengers and other motorists,” the LTO said.
