Cops seize guns, explosives from senior citizen in Butuan City

MANILA, Philippines – A senior citizen was arrested after police confiscated guns, ammunition, and explosives inside his home in Butuan City on Wednesday.

In a report from Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) on Thursday, Alejandro Madrid, 70, was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Agusan del  Norte and Butuan City Police Station 3 in Barangay Lumbocan at 8 a.m.


The operation stemmed from a search warrant issued by Hon. Lou Nueva, Acting Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court 10th Judicial Region, Branch 7, Bayugan City dated June 4, 2019.

Seized from Madrid were a caliber .357 magnum revolver, a hand grenade, nine rounds of caliber 5.56 ammunition, and 32 rounds of caliber .45 ammunition.


The suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence are now under the custody of CIDG 13. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
