DepEd extends SHS voucher program application until June 7

MANILA, Philippines — The application for Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP) is extended until June 7, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced Monday.

“Ineextend namin dahil napakarami ng demand ng mga parents na nangangailangan pa din ng voucher. So we’re extending applications until June 7,” DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said in a press conference.

DepEd initially opened the manual application for prospective recipients from May 26 to May 31. Meanwhile, online applicants had until Sunday, June 2.

However, DepEd said the extension of application is only for to those who will apply online.

“Yung deadline po natin online lang. Kasi dati may manual e. So yung extension po na yun, online lang,” DepEd Undersecretary Jesus Mateo said.

The SHS VP provides qualified Grade 10 finishers with financial assistance of up to P22,500.

Those who completed Grade 10 at local and state universities and colleges are automatically qualified for the program.

Grade 10 graduates from private schools who are part of the education service contracting (ESC) program are also automatically eligible.

The DepEd said results of the applications will be moved from June 17 to June 24. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
