LOOK: Student late for class watches lecture on video chat
A college student in Manila got help from a friend when he could not make it in time for a math class.
Nathaniel Musngi, a multimedia arts student in Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila shared on Facebook on Wednesday, May 29, how he managed to watch the lecture over video chat.
He posted screenshots of his chat with a friend who was in class. In the video, the professor is seen making graphs on the whiteboard.

“Physically absent. Virtually present,” he said. The post has gained over 9,000 likes and 19,000 shares as of this writing.
The first-year student told INQUIRER.net that he stayed up making plates for the finals of a freehand drawing class. This led him to wake up late in the morning.
“Our Mathematics class just started when I woke up. My friend, Vince Catolico, decided to contact me via video chat in messenger so I won’t miss the lecture,” he said. The time in the phone screenshot shows that the class was ongoing past 10:50 a.m.
He said the professor allows phones in the classroom to take pictures of the whiteboard given that it does not disrupt the lesson.
Musngi and his friend’s idea is akin to distance learning, where students can learn remotely and access lectures online. Of course, in this case, it was an impromptu decision to learn from a virtual classroom.
When asked what he thought of online lectures, he said, “While I do find it helpful, I would like to encourage every student to come to class as much as they can.” /ra
