MANILA, Philippines— For Senator-elect Imee Marcos, she has nothing to say sorry for supposedly making a mistake about her educational background.

“What am I apologizing for? I’m still getting alumni letters and I keep receiving all these invites,” Marcos said over ABS CBN News Channel on Thursday when asked if she would issue an apology  to schools like the Princeton University.

“I’m confused what I’m supposed to apologize about,” she said, “We’re always supposed to apologize about martial law, about my father. I think it’s important that you give us a chance and finally, put aside all these issues…”

Marcos earlier claimed that she has a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of the Philippines (UP) but the two universities have denied it.

Since the election is now over, the senator-elect is calling for an end to negative politicking and a focus instead on work.

Besides, Marcos said  she has already answered the issue on her education a “gazillion times.”

“It’s an issue na napakaraming issue. Alam mo sabi, wala na rin akong birth certificate, magulo rin kung sino ang ama ko, pati high school, pati elementary ang dami na e. Patong patong na .”

“Para sa akin, I’ve answered it before. Ang sinabi ko nga na as far as I know, ito yung ginawa ko. Marami akong kaklase sa UP College of Law. Ang pagkaintindi namin, nag-graduate kami…”

“Sana isantabi na ‘yan, tigilan na yang mga ‘yan at diretso na tayo sa trabaho. Tapos na ang eleksyon e,” Marcos added.  (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
