Grenade blast rocks village chief’s house in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — An explosion from a grenade destroyed the house of a village chief in San Fabian town in Pangasinan province on Monday, police said on Wednesday.

No one was hurt in the explosion but it shattered the windshield and back glass of two vehicles parked beside the house of Aramal village chief Virgilio Garcia, according to Police Cpl. Redelio Tiamzon, San Fabian police investigator.

The explosion also broke some of Garcia’s window jalousies and damaged parts of his house’s wall and roof.

Fearing for his life because of death threats he had received before, Garcia told investigators he reported the incident to the police only on Tuesday morning.
