MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has identified the four committees that are giving them a “headache.”

“Right now, there are probably only two or three committees (that are) really giving us a headache,” Sotto said in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel on Wednesday.

But he later corrected the number to four, namely: the committee on education, committee on justice, the blue ribbon committee, and the committee on public services.

The education committee is currently being headed by outgoing Senator Francis Escudero, who was elected governor of Sorsogon, while the committee on public services is chaired by Senator Grace Poe, who won another six-year term last May.

Senator Richard Gordon, meanwhile, currently heads the blue ribbon and justice panels.

Sotto earlier said that three senators — Sherwin Gatchalian, Joel Villanueva, and Pia Cayetano — are interested in getting the chairmanship of the education panel.

“If they can’t agree to a consensus, and they can’t agree and they can’t muster what we have tried to muster before, although unsuccessfully, and that is the art of compromise, I will toss it the body,” he said.

“The majority of the members will have to elect who they think should be the chair of those committees” the Senate leader added.(Editor: Julie Espinosa)
