Man slain, son hurt in Cotabato shooting
KIDAPAWAN CITY – A man was killed while his one-year-old son was injured in a midday shooting in Barangay Takepan, Pikit, North Cotabato on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.
A manhunt had been launched against the suspects who used a motorcycle to escape, according to Police Lt. Col. Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato police spokesperson.
Tayong identified the victim as Fortunato Nadela Jr, 40, a resident of Takepan, citing a report from the Pikit police. His son was not named in the report.
Two men riding tandem on a motorcycle arrived at Nadela’s house at 12:30 p.m. on May 28. One of the two men shot the unsuspecting victim, who was resting on a hammock, said Pikit police chief Major Mautin Pangandigan in the report.
Nadela suffered multiple bullet wounds in various parts of his body from .45-caliber pistol and died instantly.
A stray bullet hit his son on the shoulder and is now recuperating in the hospital, Pangandigan added. His son was playing nearby when hit by a stray bullet.
