Drug suspect killed in Navotas sting

MANILA, Philippines – A drug suspect was shot dead by an undercover police officer after reportedly resisting arrest during a buy-bust operation in Navotas City Monday night.

Operatives of the Navotas police station’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the buy-bust operation before midnight in  Barangay North Bay Boulevard-North.

Cpl. Globert Batara, who posed as a buyer of illegal drugs, eventually arrested a certain alias “Poloy”.

The drug suspect, however, pulled out a gun and tried to shoot Batara, who managed to return fire and fatally hit the suspect, who did not make it to hospital alive.

Recovered from the slain suspect were ten sachets of shabu (crystal meth) and a loaded .45 caliber pistol.

The drug war casualty’s remains will be transferred to Eusebio Funeral Homes, police said.   (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
