MANILA, Philippines – The water level at Angat Dam dropped below the 170-meter level and is expected to affect irrigation systems in parts of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Tuesday.
The dam’s water level dropped to 169.88 meters Tuesday morning, down from the 170.19 meter level recorded on Monday.
Pagasa hydrologist Edgar Dela Cruz pointed out that the decreased water level will not affect Metro Manila’s water supply.
“Ganun pa rin, di pa rin nagbabago yung allocation sa [residents] ng Metro Manila. Ang maapektuhan dyan ay yung irrigation,” Dela Cruz told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.
Dela Cruz added that Ipo and Bustos Dams, will likely be affected by the decreased water level of Angat Dam. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
