38% of Filipinos say quality of lives improved in Q1 2019

MANILA, Philippines —  Thirty-eight percent of Filipinos say the quality of their lives have improved in the last 12 months, latest results from the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed on Friday.

In a survey conducted from March 28 to 31, 2019, 38 percent of Filipinos said the quality of their lives have improved while 21 percent said the quality of their lives have worsened.

The SWS said the survey results revealed a five-point increase in net gainers score from “very high” +12 in December 2018 to +17 in March 2019.

Meanwhile, 50 percent of Filipinos expect that their quality of life will improve in the next 12 months while 4 percent expect it to become worse, SWS said.

This survey result showed a seven-point increase in net optimists score from +40 in December 2018 to +47 in March 2019.

The quality of life survey also found that 45 percent of adults are optimistic that the Philippine economy will improve in the next 12 months but 10 percent said they are pessimistic about it.

This showed a three-point growth in the net economic optimism from +32 in December 2018 to +35 in March 2019.

The survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,440 adults aged 18 years old and above, nationwide. The sample includes 360 each in Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.

It has a sampling margin error of ±2.6 percent for national percentages while ±5 percent for Balance Luzon, and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao. (Editors: Mike U. Frialde / Jonathan P. Vicente)
