Teacher slain by ‘live-in partner’ in Catanduanes

LEGAZPI CITY —- A public school teacher was stabbed and killed by her live-in partner in Bato town in Catanduanes province on Thursday night.

Colonel Paul Abay, director of Catanduanes police, said Liezl Tato, 24, Hawan Elementary School teacher, had a heated argument with partner Reymark Tebelin, which ended with the suspect stabbing her with a knife in different parts of her body at 8:45 p.m. in their home at Barangay Binanuahan.

Abay said Tebelin also stabbed himself in the chest after the incident.

Both were taken to a hospital for immediate medical attention, but Tato was declared dead on arrival at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Hospital in Virac town.

Tebelin suffered a minor injury and is now under the custody of Bato police, he said.
