Patient, companions survive ambulance crash in E. Samar

ORMOC CITY – An ambulance transferring a patient to Tacloban City figured in a vehicular accident Monday morning in Barangay Ginub-an, Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

Police Lieutenant Alexander Astorga, officer-in-charge of the Lawaan municipal police station, said the ambulance driven by Carlito Bagas collided with a Toyota Innova driven by Larry Silhanek.

Silhanek, an American national who operates a resort in Lawaan, sustained bruises on his hand and fainted after the collision.

The passengers of the ambulance, including the patient being transferred, were brought to the Albino M. Duran Memorial Hospital for first aid treatment.

They were eventually transferred to their hospital destination in Tacloban City later in the day.  (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
