MANILA, Philippines – The proclamation of victorious senatorial and party-list group candidates may happen on Sunday, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez announced Friday.
“Hindi tayo pwede magmadali kasi kailangan ma-compute muna natin yung party-list, so take that as a consideration,” Jimenez said in a press briefing.
“Again, sobrang tentative pa nung Sunday, but as a head’s up, it’s a reasonable date but not confirmed yet,” he said, adding that no proclamation will be done on Saturday.
The proclamation of the winning Senate candidates and party-list representatives will be done simultaneously, Jimenez said.
Jimenez said the Comelec, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, has already tallied 145 out of 167 certificates of canvass as of 4 p.m.
Friday’s canvassing resumed at 1:30 p.m.
Jimenez also clarified that the Comelec has yet to send out formal invitations to winning senatorial candidates and party-list groups.
Based on the latest partial and official tally of the Comelec, reelectionist Sen. Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe retained the top two slots.
Sen. Bam Aquino is the only Otso Diretso candidate in the so-called Magic 12.
