Two people died in a vehicular accident at the national highway in Barangay Bogo, Argao town, Cebu on Friday morning.
A motorcycle en route to Dalaguete around 10:45 a.m. tried to overtake a vehicle and in turn headed to a Ceres bus from the opposite lane.
The bus tried to avoid the motorcycle but instead rammed into two other parked motorcycles and three bystanders on the side of the road near the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital.
According to a report from the Argao police, the fatalities were identified as Marilou Campomanes of Minglanilla and Trinidad Quevido of Argao.
Campones was the backrider of the Suzuki Smash motorcycle driven by Jonard Maliao. The two came from Minglanilla and was traveling south.
Quevido, 23, was one of the three bystanders hit by the bus on the roadside when it avoided the motorcycle.
Maliao and two other unidentified bystanders survived the crash and were brought to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital which was just in front of the site of the accident, said Police Staff Sgt. Howard Minopas.
Details of their medical conditions were still unknown, according to the Police Staff Sgt. Minopas.
The Ceres Bus driver Ryan James Pangilinan, 37, is now detained at the Argao Police Station. The Ceres Bus came from Dalaguete and was en route to Cebu City.
Barangay Bogo in Argao town is located at least 75 kilometers south of Cebu City.
A video of the road accident circulating on Facebook shows two people lying in the middle of the road a few meters from each other.
A damaged motorcycle is also seen in the middle of the road near one of another person who appeared unconscious.
