MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), the citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections, said on Friday they have so far received 26.31 percent of physical copies of election returns (ERs) nationwide.
This reflects a total of 23,033 out of 87,540 ERs expected from poll precincts across the country and abroad as of 12 a.m. Friday, data obtained from the PPCRV showed.
The Church-backed poll watchdog also received ERs from Pangasinan, Bohol, Agusan del Norte, Kalibo, Lingayen, Dagupan, Cagayan, Ilagan, Tarlac and Pasig, but these are not yet included in the 26.31 percent of physical copies of ERs received nationwide.
The received ERs have yet to be manually encoded by PPCRV volunteers.
PPCRV spokesperson Agnes Gervacio earlier said they are expecting more ERs to arrive in the coming days as they aim to finish the manual encoding of election results in two to three weeks.
The PPCRV is mandated to conduct voter’s education, poll-watching, and an unofficial, parallel counting of votes. (Editor: Mike Frialde)
