Lawyer shot dead in front of Dagupan City Justice Hall
MANILA, Philippines — A lawyer was killed after being shot by a lone gunman in front of the Dagupan City Justice Hall in Pangasinan province on Friday.
A report from the Pangasinan police identified the victim as Atty. Val Crisostomo, lawyer of the “Peryahan ng Bayan” and resident of Manaoag town.
Police said Crisostomo was standing in front of the justice hall in Barangay Bonuan Gueset after attending a court hearing when he was approached by the gunman who was wearing a black jacket and a blue motorcycle helmet at around 9:15 a.m.
The gunman then shot the lawyer several times with an unknown type of pistol.
Crisostomo was rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival, police said.
The suspect, meanwhile, fled on board a motorcycle towards Barangay Bonuan Binloc with a male companion.
Police are now conducting a follow-up operation to track down and arrest the suspects. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
