Fishers groups on Thursday called on the fishing community to unite to oppose what they claimed was the government’s anti-Filipino plan to liberalize the fish market to allow imported fish into public wet markets.
The Kilusang Mangingisda (KM), the Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Samahan sa Kanayunan, Progresibong Alyansa ng mga Mangingisda, Tambuyog Development Center NGOs for Fisheries Reforms and Pamalakaya said the plan would spell the death of local and municipal fishermen.
