Ninety-six down, 100 more to go.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Wednesday arrested one more suspect in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre in which at least 57 persons were brutally murdered.
Sahid A. Guiamadel, alias Jun Aliman, was one of the civilian bodyguards of then Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., the main suspect in the Nov. 23, 2009, killings of a political rival’s family, lawyers, journalists and others in connection with the 2010 elections.
CIDG Director Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr. said his agents picked up Guiamadel from the Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Kidapawan City at 4:30 p.m. while he was on duty as a security guard.
CIDG Special Investigation Task Group Maguindanao commander Chief Supt. Benito Estipona said Guiamadel’s cousin, “who apparently got interested in the reward money,” tipped off authorities to his whereabouts.
The suspect had a P250,000 bounty on his head.
