Madrona beats Romblon gov for Congress seat

The lone district of Romblon remains under the control of the Madronas, this time under former congressman Eleandro Jesus “Budoy” Madrona.

Madrona (NP) garnered 86,218 votes against outgoing governor Eduardo Firmalo (LP) with 60,733 votes.

Commission on Elections officer Patrick Enaje, in a text message, said all winners were proclaimed on Wednesday.

Madrona is taking over his brother Emmanuel’s congress seat.

Another brother, Denon, won the mayoral post of San Agustin town with 7,876 votes against Vilmor Manzano with 2,874 votes.

In Odiongan, a key municipality in the island province, Firmalo’s daughter, Trina Fabic, was reelected mayor with 15,641 votes.

Fabic beat Doc Boy Maravilla with 6,332 votes.

The capital town of Romblon elected as its mayor Gard Montojo with 13,744 votes against Sally Benda with 3,618.

Romblon vice governor Jose “Otik” Riano was elected the province’s new governor with 75,563 votes.

Riano (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan) beat lone rival Bong Fabella with 63,947 votes. Maricar Cinco (EditorLeti Boniol)
