BANGUED, Abra – Lawyer Estrellita Cordero, legal counsel of the Asenso party, petitioned the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) to lower the percentage threshold for the proclamation of top elective positions from 100 percent to 94 percent to ease tension in the province after Monday’s midterm elections.
Cordero filed a written motion Tuesday afternoon asking the PBOC to declare the winners to “ease the tension” since supporters of leading candidates are already “agitated.”
Only three municipalities have yet to submit election results to the PBOC – Lacub, Malibcong and Tineg.

Based on the latest tally, Asenso was leading in the race for key provincial positions, from congressman to provincial board members.
Among those leading their rivals are reelectionists Rep. Joseph Sto Niño Bernos, Gov. Joy Bernos and Vice Gov. Ronald Balao-as.
Cordero said results from the three remaining towns will not affect the standing of the leading candidates.
