MANILA, Philippines – Former Vice President Jejomar Binay continues to trail Liberal party (LP) candidate Kid Peña in Makati City’s 1st District congressional race.
According to Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting’s (PPCRV) 2 a.m. partial, unofficial vote tally, Peña leads the four-man race with 70,337 votes while Binay trails him with 64, 679 votes.
Independent candidates Mesina John and Ferdie Sevilla have 1,209 and 721 votes, respectively.
Binay, a longtime Makati mayor, lost in the 2016 presidential race.
Meanwhile, Peña had served as acting Makati City mayor in 2015 when then-mayor Jejomar “Junjun” Binay Jr, was suspended over the alleged overpricing of the Makati Science High School Building and the Makati City Hall Parking Building II. (Editor: Abe Cerojano)
