Chiz Escudero leads Sorsogon gubernatorial race

MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero is way ahead in the gubernatorial race in Sorsogon, according to the latest partial and unofficial vote tally of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).

As of 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Esc0udero, who ran under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), received 9,678 votes, while PDP-Laban’s Bladi Frivaldo, his closest rival in the race, only got 1,788.

Meanwhile, Pads Rollin Galindes got 63 votes, Nestor Gotis 44, Lady Gabarda 41, Redentor Guyala 34, Mike Lopez 16, and Mandy Lucila 7.

Escudero, whose term ends in June, is among the four outgoing senators, along with Antonio Trillanes IV, Gringo Honasan, and Loren Legarda.
