CEBU CITY, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte’s candidate for Cebu City mayor is leading the city’s mayoral race, according to the official and partial tally of votes.

As of 11 p.m., Vice Mayor Edgar Labella, who is running against incumbent Mayor Tomas Osmeña, was leading by 17,000 votes.  Labella garnered 250,558 votes compared to Osmeña’s 233,232 votes.

The City Board of Canvassers is awaiting a few more barangays, which have less than 20,000 votes, to transmit their results.

In his Facebook page, Osmeña posted a video where he was seen talking to his close allies and wife, Councilor Margot Osmeña.

In the video, Lea Japson, who was running for councilor in the north district, appeared to be crying.

But Osmena told them he was thankful to the the Cebuanos for allowing him to serve.

In a separate post, Osmeña told his constituents to take care of Cebu and that he would always be there if they needed them. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
