Abby Binay leads Makati mayoralty race

MANILA, Philippines — Incumbent Mayor Abby Binay led the initial results of the mayoralty race in Makati City, the City Board of Canvassers revealed Monday evening.
According to the results shown by the board on Monday evening, Binay received 173,832 votes, a 78,315 lead over her brother Junjun who received 95,517 votes.
The siblings were followed by other mayoralty candidates Ricky Yabut (22,775 votes), Rene Bondal (3,454 votes), Wilfredo Talag (1,471 votes), and Love Alanzalon (1,053 votes).
The Board of Canvassers said the presented results comprised 96.82 percent of the total votes cast.
Article continues after this advertisementFor the vice mayoralty race, meanwhile, Monique Lagdameo is in the lead with 176,898 followed by PDP-Laban’s Monsour del Rosario with 102,244 votes.
Article continues after this advertisementThe two candidates were followed by Battle Batalla (7,255 votes), Roberto Lantin (3,336 votes), and Rodolfo Biolena (1,484 votes).
The results of the vice mayoral race came from 488 of 503 clustered precincts in the city. (Editor: Abe Cerojano)
