Possible delays could mar polls
Poll watchdog group Kontra Daya has warned of possible delays and other problems that could mar Monday’s national and local elections.
This came after the group received reports of glitches in the conduct of final testing and sealing (FTS) held in polling precincts in different parts of Metro Manila.
The group noted that there were several vote-counting machines (VCMs) that malfunctioned during the FTS.
It also reported the absence of tools necessary to connect the VCM to the batteries and that some precincts were forced to use markers from previous elec tions, random ball-point pens, among others, in the absence of the markers provided by the Comission on Elections (Comelec).
Some polling centers had only one technical support personnel present, the group said.
In response, the Comelec said such reports were being forwarded to their National Support Center already. —Tina G. Santos
