2 men nabbed for alleged vote buying in Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY, Philippines — Two days before the midterm elections, police arrested two men for alleged vote buying in Sorsogon City in Sorsogon province on Saturday morning.

Cesar Villafuerte, 54, of Barangay Guinlajon, and Reynaldo Pombo, 52, of Barangay Abuyog, were arrested in two separate operations at around 8 a.m., according to Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, information officer of Bicol Police Regional Office.

Seized from Villafuerte were an improvised master list of voters, campaign paraphernalia, and sample ballots with P26,100 in cash attached.

On the other hand, authorities seized from Pombo nine white mail envelopes and sample ballots containing P15,300 in different denominations.
