MANILA, Philippines — Opposition senatorial candidate Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV admitted that “black propaganda and fake news” affected his campaign for return in the Senate.
Aquino remains the lone candidate from the opposition slate to be included in the latest Pulse Asia survey released Saturday, where Cynthia Villar emerged as the top candidate among voters.

“Naging mahirap po itong ating kampanya dahil sa matinding paninira sa amin at walang tigil na fake news,” Aquino said in a statement.
However, he noted: “Sa totoo lang po, kami dito habang sinisiraan, tumatapang.”
As he is on the final stretch of his three-month campaign, Aquino thanked his supporters for their unwavering support.
“Ipagdasal po natin na maging mapayapa, malinis at maayos ang eleksyon sa Lunes para manaig ang tunay na boses ng mamamayan,” he added about the upcoming mid-term polls. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
