MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial candidate Jinggoy Estrada on Friday took a swipe at detained Senator Leila De Lima during a surprise appearance at the miting de avance of reelectionist Makati City Mayor Abby Binay and her Team Performance Friday night.

Estrada first joked about his similarities with father, former president and now Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada.

“Sabi niyo sa akin, lagi ko daw siyang ginagaya,” Estrada told the crowd.

“Sabi ko ‘Bakit naman?’”

“Nag-artista ako, nag-artista ka rin; nag-mayor ako ng San Juan, nag-mayor ka rin. Ano pa kulang?” Jinggoy added.

At one point, he joked: “Nung nakulong siya, nakulong din ako! Weather-weather lang ‘yan!”

“Tignan mo yung nagpakulong sa amin? Kilala mo yung nagpakulong sa amin? Yung babae? ‘Yun ang pumalit sa amin sa Camp Crame!”

Estrada and his then fellow senators, Bong Revilla and Juan Ponce Enrile, were ordered arrested by then Justice Secretary De Lima over the “pork barrel” scam.

Estrada added that  after a three-year “vacation”, he, Revilla and Enrile are ready to serve again.

“Tatlong taon ako nagbakasyon, tatlo kami, ako, si Senator Revilla at si Senator Enrile,” Estrada said.

Estrada, who is facing a plunder charge, is out on bail.

“Mahirap talaga magbakasyon na napag-initan ka na, niyurak ang iyong pagkatao, binaboy ang iyong pagkatao, bigla ka pang kasuhan, bigla ka pang pinakulong.”

“Pero mga kaibigan, malakas ang aking loob, malakas ang aming loob na humarap sa inyo at sabihin sa inyo paulit-ulit na wala po kaming kasalanan sa taumbayan.” (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
