3 suspected members of ISIS-linked group nabbed
Three suspected members of the local Isis affiliant group Daulah Islamiyah Ranao were arrested on Friday in subsequent operations in Metro Manila and neighboring Rizal province.
In a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on Friday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) announced the arrest of Norodin Abolkhair Manalinding and Cairo Gen Manatao Abolkhair, both from Marawi City but currently residing in Baclaran, Parañaque.
The surveillance on the two began in March, following the arrest of one of their co-members, who tagged Manalinding as a “finance facilitator and recruiter” of Daulah Islamiyah Ranao.
The two suspects were nabbed, however, after they were found in illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and violating the gun ban, said CIDG Metro Manila chief Police Lt. Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay.
Recovered from the two were two pistols, a grenade and various ammunition in a black tactical bag.
The third member of the group, Tagoranao Dimaro Sarip Jr., was arrested hours later in Cainta, Rizal, after the service of search warrants on his home yielded, among others, a pistol, a grenade, and a black flag believed to be that of international terror group Isis.
