MANILA, Philippines — A footage from a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera showed the April 19 abduction of a former policeman in a hotel lobby in Bacolod.

The 18-second CCTV video, shared by Police Regional Office (PRO) – 6 on Friday, was recorded from the inside of the Metro Inn Hotel lobby where Major Lito Pirote was abducted by armed men.

Western Visayas Police said Pirote was abducted by men on board a white Toyota Hiace (YS4514) along 6th street in Barangay 7 at around 11:10 a.m.
Police said Pirote had just stepped out of the hotel after meeting with his lawyer when the abduction happened.
Pirote, formerly assigned at the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of the Philippine National Police (PNP), was previously included in President Rodrigo Duterte’s list of alleged narco-cops.

PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde said the retired policeman’s alleged drug links could be the possible motive behind the latter’s abduction.

The investigation, assisted by PRO-6 Director Brig. Gen. John Bulalacao, is still ongoing, Albayalde said. /jpv
