We’re ready for elections — Comelec
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday reaffirmed that the poll’s body preparation for midterm elections is now complete.
“Reding-ready na kami for Monday,” Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said before he conducted an inspection around the canvassing center in Philippine International Convention Center.
According to Abas, the Comelec would convene at 3 p.m. on Monday to mark the official start of the canvassing of votes for the midterm elections.
He also said that on Sunday, a sweeping inspection would be conducted by police for final checking of the venue.
More than 61 million voters are expected to vote in the elections for national and local candidates.
Article continues after this advertisementData from the Comelec showed that the biggest chunk of voters are from Region IV-A composed of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.
The lowest number of voters, meanwhile, is from the region of Cordillera Administrative Region. /je
