MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday reminded voters ahead of the May 13 elections to take care of their ballots as they only have one chance to vote.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez issued the reminder after a ballot was reportedly torn when it was fed to the vote-counting machine during the final sealing and testing of the VCMs.
“Baka na-jam ‘yung papel. Baka naghilaan sila (nung machine) or habang pumapasok ‘yung papel nagtwist siya. Kaya kailangan ingat talaga,” Jimenez said in a press briefing.
“Unfortunately, one voter, one ballot ang ating policy. No replacements,” Jimenez stressed.
“They can complain and it will be lodged in the minutes of voting but they will not be given a new ballot,” he added.
On Monday, more than 61 million registered voters are expected to flock to polling precincts to cast their vote for 12 senators and their respective mayor, vice mayor, representative, and councilors, among other local elective positions.
Polling precincts will open as early as 6 a.m. and will be close by 6 p.m. /gsg
