MANILA, Philippines — With just five days before the May 13 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) assured that the midterm polls will push through as scheduled.

“There have been few issues that arose during the past few days, so those have been addressed,” Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said Wednesday during the launch of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting’s (PPCRV) command center for the elections.

“With less than a week to go, we’re pretty confident that the elections will push through as planned, that the elections will be generally peaceful and that we are ready to receive more than 61 million voters on election day,” he added.
