Batangas town vice mayor shot at Mall of Asia

MANILA, Philippines—The vice-mayor of a Batangas town was shot and wounded before noon Thursday at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Pasay City police chief Supt. Melchor Reyes identified the victim as Vice Mayor Florencio Manimtim Jr of Talisay, Batangas. Manimtim was shot in the back at around 11:50 a.m, while he was  walking to his car parked at the MOA.

Manimtim, 52, was rushed to the San Juan de Dios Hospital for treatment.

The victim was ambushed in August last year but survived the attack. His bodyguard was slain in the ambush in Talisay, police said.
