Caloocan man dies after allegedly resisting search warrant

MANILA, Philippines — A man was killed after allegedly resisting police officers during the serving of a search warrant at his house in Caloocan early Thursday morning.

The Northern Police District said that Judge Ma. Teresa de Guzman of the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 117 issued a warrant to search the house of Noel Peneda Baelo last Tuesday.

On Thursday morning, members of the Police Community Precinct 2 and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group tried to serve the warrant on Baelo, 47, at his house at 234 Libis Talisay Street, Barangay 12, Caloocan.

However, while Police Captain Mark Demorito was explaining the process to Baelo, the latter allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officers but missed.

The police returned fire which led to the killing of the Baelo.
