Another magnitude 4.3 quake hits Surigao del Sur

MANILA, Philippines — Another magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck Marihatag town in Surigao del Sur on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

This is the fourth earthquake that hit the same town on the same day.

A magnitude 4.3 quake was reported at 2:01 a.m., followed by two weaker quakes of magnitude 2.6 at 2:20 a.m. and magnitude 2.8 at 6:47 a.m.

The most recent earthquake reported at 1:34 p.m. had a depth of four kilometers with its epicenter located 76 kilometers southeast of Marihatag in Surigao del Sur.

Despite the series of quakes, the Phivolcs said that no damages were expected. /je
