LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Police arrested three alleged major suppliers of “shabu” here in a buy-bust operation Saturday night, police said.

Anti-illegal drugs operatives collared Romel Salapare, 40; Josephine Ann Macasait, 38; and James Cortez, 49, after the group sold shabu to a police informant in a transaction in Barangay (village) Dalahican at about 6:15 p.m., Lt. Col. Norman Ranon, chief of Quezon police drug enforcement unit, said in a report.

The suspects yielded eight plastic sachets of shabu weighing 17.7 grams and worth P98,235 in the street market at the prevailing price of P5,550 per gram.

Report said the authorities conducted the operation after concerned villagers tipped off the police about the illegal activities of the suspects. /cbb
