A yellow alert is raised when operating reserves drop below the required 647 megawatts (MW) contingency in Luzon, 100 MW in Visayas, or 150 MW in Mindanao, while a red alert is raised when the power supply situation worsens, according to the Department of Energy.
The Luzon grid’s available capacity is at 11,054 MW, and at 11,046 MW during peak demand, the NGCP said.
“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the system operator said. /muf
