Lawmaker sounds alarm on influx of Chinese workers
CAUAYAN CITY – Senator Bam Aquino on Thursday expressed fear that many skilled Filipino workers would lose job opportunities due to the influx of Chinese nationals who have taken up jobs in the country.
The reelectionist senator, who met with farmers and fishermen at a forum in the Cabaruan covered court in this city, was reacting to reports that Chinese nationals are working in Boracay Island and in offshore gaming operations in other locations of the country.
“We should ensure that qualified and able Filipinos must be given priority,” Aquino said.
“Filipinos should be first,” Aquino said.
If reelected, he vowed to push for a Senate inquiry on the country’s foreign policies. / gsg
