Albayalde: KMU ‘sipsip’ and ‘epal’ remarks are ‘childish’

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Oscar Albayalde dismissed the comments of militant labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) against him “childish.”

KMU chair Elmer Labog earlier called Albayalde as “sipsip” and “epal” over the PNP chief’s remark that the group was the real “anti-worker.”

Albayalde said that such comments only sought to veer away from the real issues.

“I see those comments as very childish!! Deviating from the issues! When they should be answering to the thousands of jobless Filipinos because of them!!” Albayalde told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

Albayalde added that KMU was exploiting the country’s labor sector for their own interests.

“Sila ang dahilan bakit naghihirap ang Filipino NOT the duly constituted government. I believe no government would ever want its citizens to suffer poverty! STOP EXPLOITING THE POOR!” the PNP chief said.

Albayalde was earlier quoted saying the KMU is scaring away foreign investors in the country by encouraging laborers to stage protest actions.

“How can they say that we are anti-worker? Baka sila ang anti-worker?” Albayalde earlier said in a press briefing.

“Alam n’yo kung bakit? Ito ang sigurado. Bakit ba umaalis ang mga investors sa atin? Papasukin ng KMU, i-i-instigate ‘yung unyon, and then magra-rally sila, ‘Yung investor mawawalan ng gana, uuwi sa kanila,” he added. /cbb
