LOOK: Workers march towards Mendiola on Labor Day

MANILA, Philippines — Workers from different labor groups have started marching towards the Mendiola Peace Arch in Manila, after a program at the Mabuhay Rotonda in Quezon City.

According to the Quezon City Police District, the number of participants in the Labor Day march has grown to more than 3,000 as of 9:45 a.m., from just 500 in 8:30 a.m.

Before the groups — which included Akbayan, Sentro, Partido Manggagawa, and other labor unions — left the Mabuhay Rotonda, opposition senatorial  bets–Senator Bam Aquino, former Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada, and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno– discussed current labor issues with the workers.

Labor Win bet Sonny Matula and Senator Risa Hontiveros also spoke during the program, which lasted for over an hour.  /muf
