MANILA, Philippines — Independent senatorial candidate Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday thanked her supporters after she landed in the top spot of the latest Pulse Asia survey with fellow reelectionist Senator Cynthia Villar.

Pulse Asia’s April 2019 “Ulat ng Bayan Survey” for the senatorial elections was released two weeks before the midterm elections.

“Ako’y nagpapasalamat sa tiwala ng ating mga kababayan. Bagamat wala akong partido, nananatili pa rin tayo sa isip ng marami,” Poe said in a text message.

Despite her consistent performance in pre-election surveys, Poe said this should not stop her from getting her platform across to the public.

“Patuloy pa rin ang ating pag-iikot at paglalahad ng plataporma para sa ikabubuti ng ating bayan (We will continue to go around to bring our message and our political platform to the people),” Poe said.

Meanwhile, reelectionist Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, who placed in the 10-14th spot, said he was happy that his qualifications are recognized.

Pimentel once served a Senate President before he was replaced by Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

“I am happy that those surveyed are aware of my qualifications for the position, remember the things that I have accomplished, and have become aware of the good plans I have for our beloved country,” Pimentel said in a text message.

Pimentel renewed his call for the public to help one another for the country.

“I once again call on all Filipinos who love their country to unite and help one another help our country and our people progress,” Pimentel added.

For his part, reelectionist Senator JV Ejercito credited his inclusion in the survey’s list of probable winners to the passage of the Universal Healthcare Law and the creation of the Department of Human Settlements.

Ejercito placed in the 10-16th spot in the survey.
