4.6 magnitude aftershock jolts Surigao del Norte
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.6 aftershock hit the province of Surigao del Norte anew on Sunday past noon.
In an updated report by the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake struck 58 kilometers northeast of the municipality of General Luna at 1:59 p.m.
Despite the high magnitude, Phivolcs had recorded no intensities in nearby municipalities and provinces.
The agency said that today’s quake had a depth of focus of 5 kilometers and was of tectonic origin.
No expected damage and aftershocks could be expected by the affected residents.
Phivolcs noted that this was still an aftershock of the magnitude 5.5 quake that happened in Surigao del Norte last Friday. /je
