965 families in Central Luzon evacuation centers after quake — DSWD

MANILA, Philippines — There are now 965 families or 3,699 individuals being housed at evacuation centers across Central Luzon following the magnitude 6.1 earthquake on Monday that rocked parts of Luzon, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said.

In a tweet on Thursday, the DSWD said seven temporary shelters have been set up in Zambales, Bataan, and Pampanga.  According to the DSWD, 108 families or 648 individuals have opted not to stay at the evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 1,203 families or 4,991 individuals from 19 barangays have been affected by the quake.  Out of the 542 houses damaged by the earthquake, 142 are beyond repair while 400 were partially damaged.

The DSWD and local government units have allocated P1.1 billion to assist affected families.

The magnitude  6.1 earthquake which struck Zambales was also felt in various parts of Luzon including Metro Manila all the way to Camarines Norte in the Bicol region.

Meanwhile, the towns of Porac and Lubao in Pampanga appear to be the hardest-hit with the quake registering at Intensity VI.  /muf
