Today, April 25, is the 28th death anniversary of National Artist for Theater and Film Lamberto Avellana.
Dubbed the “Boy Wonder of Philippine Movies,” he was the first to use the motion picture camera to establish a point-of-view, a move that revolutionized the techniques of film narration.
His film, “Kandelerong Pilak,” was shown at the Cannes International Film Festival.
Avellana was born on Feb. 12, 1915 and was named a National Artist in 1976. He died in 1991. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
