Porac mayor hopes to finish Chuzon operations by Thursday
PAMPANGA, Philippines — Porac town Mayor Condralito dela Cruz hopes to finish the ongoing operations at the Chuzon Supermarket by Thursday, April 25.
Dela Cruz said Wednesday that ending the operations at Chuzon would allow them to start attending to other residents affected by the quake.
“Sana pinakamatagal bukas. Eh kung pwede ngayon [matapos] na natin, para maka-concentrate naman kami sa ibang problema ng bara-barangay,” he said.
(Hopefully, we can finish the operations tomorrow. If we can do it now, that is even better so we can concentrate on the problems of other villages.)
Dela Cruz said Porac officials have been going around the villages to provide support for their constituents.
Five people died from the Chuzon Supermarket collapse while nine people were reported injured.
Porac was one of the areas in Pampanga severely affected by the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit Zambales and parts of Luzon Monday afternoon.
But only the second district of Pampanga was placed under a state of calamity due to the aftermath of the temblor. /ee
