Luzon grid on yellow, red alerts Wednesday
MANILA, Philippines—The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under yellow and red alerts on Wednesday.
In an advisory, the NGCP declared the largest grid in the country under yellow alert from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
It will be under red alert from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Available capacity is at 10,741 megawatts while peak demand is pegged at 10,525 megawatts, the NGCP said.

Article continues after this advertisementOn Tuesday, the NGCP put the Luzon grid under yellow and red alerts after a magnitude 6.1 earthquake damaged several power generators — mainly in Bataan last Monday.

Earlier this month, the grid was put under red alert several times after some power plants simultaneously went on a forced outage.
