MANILA, Philippines—The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under yellow and red alerts on Wednesday.

In an advisory, the NGCP declared the largest grid in the country under yellow alert from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Available capacity is at 10,741 megawatts while peak demand is pegged at 10,525 megawatts, the NGCP said.

“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” it added.

On Tuesday, the NGCP put the Luzon grid under yellow and red alerts after a magnitude 6.1 earthquake damaged several power generators — mainly in Bataan last Monday.
