DID YOU KNOW: 47th death anniversary of Fernando Amorsolo

Today, April 24, is the 47th death anniversary of the country’s first national artist, painter Fernando Amorsolo, who was born on May 30, 1892 in Paco, Manila.

Amorsolo’s major works includes “Maiden in a Stream,” “Dalagang Bukid” and “The Mestiza.”

The official title “Grand Old Man of Philippine Art” was bestowed on Amorsolo when the Manila Hilton inaugurated its art center on Jan. 23, 1969 with an exhibit of several of his artworks.
