Central Luzon police on full alert after magnitude 6.1 quake

MANILA, Philippines — The Central Luzon police is now on full alert status following the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that killed 11 in Pampanga, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Oscar Albayalde said on Tuesday.

“Sa Region 3, ‘yung hardest hit, they are on full alert status as of this time since yesterday,” he said in a press conference at Camp Crame.

Albayalde is also set to conduct aerial survey and inspection of damaged areas in Central Luzon, especially Pampanga province this afternoon.

He is also set to hold a meeting with the Disaster Incident Management Task Group of the regional police under Brigadier General Joel Napoleon Coronel to assess the ongoing search and rescue operations in the region.

Earlier, Albayalde also directed Brigadier General Elmer Cabreros, director of PNP Engineering Service, to lead an immediate inspection of the facilities in Metro Manila and Central Luzon.

He said there was no report of damaged police stations so far after the earthquake that jolted parts of Luzon on Monday.

The PNP chief added that he has yet to receive a report on looting incidents in buildings as people went to open spaces during Monday’s earthquake.

The Central Luzon police has also activated its Disaster Incident Management Task Group and has deployed mobile force personnel in areas hit hardest by the quake for search, rescue, and clearing operations.  /muf
